Our government had followed through on its plan to revoke the printer’s license of ‘problematic’ newspapers. Just yesterday, both the Daily Blurb and Money Watch had their license revoked. These newspapers had become important to the function of Vision and a vital part of the news flow. No one was expecting papers as prestigious as either of these papers to have their licenses revoked.
The Daily Blurb has had their license revoked for consorting with ‘enemies,’ specifically Mordon Genette. This angered our government. Our government has said that Genette is a traitor and that he is to be captured to ‘face his crimes.’ This means that it was a crime for the Blurb to consort with him and not turn him over. The Daily Blurb maintained that they had no direct contact with him. Instead, he sent his opinions by mail, as do the majority of people who submit opinions. Our government revoked the Daily Burbs license anyway, perhaps fearing that Mordon Genette would inspire treason and sedition within the people. Perhaps our government is afraid that the multiple perspectives in the Daily Blurb might influence the people in a way it does not wish. So, our government does a least have some reason, however tenuous, for revoking the license of the Daily Blurb.
However, it appears as if there is next to no logical reason for the revoking of Money Watch’s printers license. The catalyst was Money Watch writing about the toll that the famine was taking on the people of Vision. They wrote about how the famine was causing the deaths of many and how it was severely impacting Vision. The thing that our government appears to have an issue with is that Money Watch described that the government will need a change in order for the famine to go away. It seems that our government has does not like newspapers pointing out its flaws.
You may have noticed that our tone is no longer as neutral as it once was. We are slowly becoming more critical of our government, now, when it is the most dangerous too. We were founded on the principles of neutrality. But, sometimes we must change with the times. Our government is becoming corrupt. If we do nothing, we may fall into an endless cycle of corrupt government after corrupt government. This may be the Morning Star’s last stand. So, we have decided to make our stand against our government, against corruption. Our government has started to overstep its bounds. It has started to use its power to commit atrocities. If it gets its hands on Mordon Genette, it would sentence him to death. We will not stay silent in this.
For now, we will be going into hiding. If you need us, we will try to deliver the news suppressed by the government. We will try to make sure that all of you are still informed. We do not want the information to be suppressed. So, if you look in the right places you should be able to find us. We will support you. We will try to help you. We cannot do much, but we will do what we can.
This is the Morning Star. We hope this will be the first of many articles, giving you the news as it is, not as the government makes it out to be.
