About

Sci-fi and Fantasy Short Stories

Edge of Story provides original short stories for teens and adults. This site presents original fiction stories by a teenage author that I hope other teens will enjoy. I specialize in sci-fi and fantasy short stories for teens, but sometimes I’ll branch out into other genres. e.

You will find more than a dozen stories, some quite short and others longer and I add more stories all the time. My topics are varied. The short story topics range from the everyday to robots and AI. You can find aliens, intergalactic war, and space colonies. They involve students and scientists, wizards and magicians. They take place online, in forests, a supermarket, above an impossibly deep rock chasm, aboard spaceships, and on foreign planets. You can find zombies and refugees, gunfights and abandoned cities. This collection of original teen fiction short stories will be of interest to and appropriate for teenagers, both middle schoolers and high schoolers, and adults.

Serial

My Serial is Across the Tainted Earth. This is the one I’ve spent by far the most time on. And, in my opinion, it’s shockingly good. It updates every Thursday and will have 16 episodes total.

My first serial was Newspapers of Vision. It takes place in a fledgling nation in the throes of revolution. The focus is on how the events affect the country’s newspapers and how the newspapers in turn affect the revolution. This serial is loosely based on the French Revolution.

For Newspapers of Vision, start with Article 1, skip forward to Article 4 when Vision starts to have real problems, or check out the Trailer for Newspapers of Vision.

Short Stories

Each month Edge of Story publishes a new short story. Most of these are in the fantasy and sci-fi genres. However, other genres will be used from time to time.

New short stories are published on the first Thursday of each month. Read:

Robots at the Supermarket – a sci-fi story about robots fighting in a supermarket.

Specimen – a short story about a young doctor and alien life.

The Ivory Tower – This short story asks whether the new teen magistrate of the Ivory Tower can handle the burden of leadership in a time of crisis.

Tink – A sci-fi short story inspired by online zoom classes.

Blog

In addition to fantasy and sci-fi stories, both short stories and serials, I also provide some non-fiction content. This sort of blog will be mostly about science fiction and fantasy topics. You can find it under the Blog tab. I’ll reflect on writing topics, review movies and books, and what ever else interests me. I’ve blogged about a lot of things, including 5 Reasons to Love Sci-fi and Fantasy, and a couple of posts about guns in fantasy stories: Could Muggles Win a Fight Against Wizards and an argument for more fantasy gunfights, which includes more art than most of my other pieces. Check them out.
