Money Watch, your favorite newspaper covering the day-to-day economics of Vision, has come to you with a breaking story about our grain supply. The previous year, as all of you know well, we experienced a great drought. This calamity was compounded by the arrival of locusts, severely affecting our grain crop. And because of this, we now have high prices for bread. Combined with our recent population boom, there may not be enough food to feed everyone. News is only beginning to circulate among many people who will be worried about the impact of the famine on them.

Political Professor Karl Striket from the prestigious Goldwater School of Thinking has told us that “this puts the Eastern Empire in a powerful position. They are still angry about their loss of sovereignty over this colony. The reason they stopped fighting us was not that they could no longer fight, but rather that it became too much of a nuisance to continue fighting. But, this doesn’t mean that they have forgotten about us.

Recently, the Eastern Empire has had a surplus in the amount of food produced. Out of all our neighboring countries, only the Eastern Empire has enough food to save us. They may use this as leverage, allowing us food only if we surrender and return to their Empire. If we refuse they could attack again and we would be sorely disadvantaged. But, they would probably not risk it. Instead, they would sit back and wait, allowing famine to take its toll on us. Even if we rejoin the empire, they would wreck Vision, and trod on what we have worked to make. We are between a rock and a hard place. No matter what, Vision will be changed.”

This news is very concerning for Vision. We urge everyone to please ration their food. We are in a weak position and bid you not to make it any weaker. The impact of famine is already hurting Vision. These times will be tough and we must prepare.
